Robert H. Greenfield

Mr. Greenfield is an experienced litigator and mediator who has had extensive trial experience in state and federal court for the past 20 years. He began his career at the prominent insurance defense firm of Porter, Scott, Weiberg and Delehant in Sacramento, California. Thereafter, he joined two other insurance defense firms before starting his own practice. In 1996, Mr. Greenfield joined Gaffaney, Cudney and Greenfield as a partner and later formed Greenfield • Hardy with Mark Hardy. Mr. Greenfield has had sixteen jury trials and has successfully represented clients in over 200 arbitrations. In addition, Mr. Greenfield has argued before the California Courts of Appeal on six occasions.

Mr. Greenfield is available for mediations in the area of Employment Law. As a mediator, Mr. Greenfield brings a unique combination of years of experience coupled with extensive academic training.

Professional Affiliations, Education and Background

Born in Albany, New York, Robert H. Greenfield graduated in 1981 with honors from Fordham University, Bronx, New York, with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Economy. Mr. Greenfield spent one year prior to attending law school working as a legislative intern in the New York State Assembly. Thereafter, Mr. Greenfield attended the University of Pacific, McGeorge School of Law where he was a member of the Pacific Law Journal. Mr. Greenfield graduated in 1984 having made the Dean’s list his final year.

In addition, Mr. Greenfield’s record of continuing education sets him and his academic record apart from most mediators. Attendance includes:

Mr. Greenfield is married and lives with his wife and two sons in Placerville, California. He has just finished serving as President of the Board of Trustees of the Gold Trail Union School District.

Mark L. Hardy

Mr. Hardy established his practice based on peer recommendation to serve as Mediator/Special Master and Litigation Consultant.  His emphasis in Alternative Dispute Resolution/Dispute Resolution Facilitation focuses is in the area of Construction Defect.  But, the practice is open to all aspects of civil litigation from simple to complex.

Born in Salt Lake City, Utah, Mr. Hardy graduated from the University of Utah where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Mass Communication – Journalism in 1979. While pursuing his undergraduate degree, he earned a minor degree in French and Tahitian from his 2-year experience living in French Polynesia. Also, while attending the U. of U., he earned a place on the football team and served a Communications- internship with the Salt Lake Office of Senator Orrin Hatch.

Following a successful first career as the managing employee for a local real estate developer and home builder in Salt Lake, Mr. Hardy moved to Sacramento to attend McGeorge School of Law in the evening while he worked as a Contract Administrator for IBM to support his small family. He graduated, and passed the California State Bar in 1988. In 1995, he sat for and passed the Nevada State Bar. He has tried numerous cases including several involving construction defects to successful jury verdict in representing varied interests.

Currently, he participates in the litigation process as a “neutral” acting as Special Master, Mediator, or Arbitrator overseeing and deciding issues ranging from Personal Injury and Real Property through protracted Mold and Construction Defect claims.

  • Completed extensive continuing legal education that included seminars by the Defense Research Institute covering mold litigation, by the Negotiation Strategy Institute, and by the respected Straus Institute for Dispute Resolution centered at the Pepperdine School of Law earning certificates in Construction and Construction Defect Resolution and Mediating the Litigated Case.

Mr. Hardy’s success in Litigation and in Alternative forms of Dispute Resolution stems from instincts honed by his life’s experience covering 28 happily married years and two varied and successful careers; and enhanced by a teacher’s intuition and a reporter’s curiosity.

First and foremost, Mr. Hardy is and always will be husband to Jill, father to Brandon and Emmalee, grandfather to Blythe and Eli, and Gus’ closest friend and confidant.
